When given advice I admit that I go way beyond what the hell is being said to me. Verbally and directly that is.
It’s just that
How can I embrace
Your words when I don’t fully understand?
I am sifting through the parts of me,
Rubbish in the sand.
No, I don’t trust you.
Don’t you tell people to listen to their hearts?
But if it’s the heart of one late in the wellness game I guess I’m not included in your
Disingenuous
Guidance
Counseling me for strength
But it isn’t tough love that I hate.
It’s the strenuous need to step away
From “Do as I say,”
Discernment always
Has refined boundaries
That take away my right to boundaries
Bound is me, who longs to break free.
The guidance counselor pulled me into her office one day and asked me to roll up my sleeve.

It’s too much for you?
Well shit, me too
I was a child.
But I’m good now.
