Sittin’ outside in this North Carolina storm

There’s still a storm brewing inside of me.

Sittin ’outside in this North Carolina storm

Forecast said it’s been due for a week.

Sittin’ outside in this North Carolina storm

With my decorations from Dollar Tree.

Got my little baby beside me.

My boys don’t wanna hang out –

Neither would I if I were a teen.

Sittin’ outside in this North Carolina storm

I missed out on a lot but I’m still right here, gratefully.

Most days I’m present.

I’m mindful. At times.

But also, most days aren’t like today.

Is that due to progress? Self care steps? I know I’ll be fine either way.

I think blogging away my troubles has done me good.

I just wanna be a living example for my 3

No “woe is me” motto just because I am quite often misunderstood.

16 months old already. She’s so smart and vocal.

Time flies

And we can control none of it.

One thing I can control is how I show up for each of my kids.

I often remind myself that simple life is best for me,

It’s just that feeling unheard and invisible triggers an old wound in me.

And yes I’ve got tons of unanswered questions spinning around in my head.

Quite often I replay bits and pieces of conversations and scenes – whether I’m cooking or laying in bed.

Sittin’ outside in this North Carolina storm that didn’t even really start yet,

My story is a powerful one, and I hope that it’s one with tones not too easy to forget.

Sittin’ outside in this North Carolina storm,

Mother Nature tantalizing me with little drizzles followed by more humid North Carolina heat,

Kids: Mom gets a little beaten down emotionally, but she’s coping well, showing resilience that can’t be beat.

Thank you for viewing. This poem is very connected to my “Safe Haven in a Story” piece.
