Vulnerable vulgarities,

She was a fugitive

Lost in her mind.

Too easy.

Cast aside, a frail target.

Does dignity have a price?

After explosive rages

And hours of tug of war.

Easy score.

Soul binding flashy gifts

Blank greeting cards

Sealed shut with her tears

In which trauma tongue-tied licks

And confusing strokes

Kept her in a choke hold.

Not even one handwritten sentence in the card?

Sign sealed delivered

Another long drive

While toting the fetus.

The stories we tell our children.
